I am so glad you have joined me! I aim to bring a fresh perspective on people, particularly women, and events from the Medieval period up through the Renaissance. I chose to start around the year 1347, as that was when the Black Death was striking Europe hard and completely changed the economic landscape. I chose 1625 as the end year because that is the year James I & VI’s reign ended.
I look forward to exploring illuminated manuscripts with you, too. As functional works of art, the books provide insight into beliefs, events and cultural aspects from the time range we will explore.
If you have a question or a comment, please do not be shy! There is no such thing as a stupid question! How can a conversation be furthered if it is one-sided? Please do let me know your thoughts.
Just discovered your blog and really enjoying your articles and portraits, especially the ones about the Cleves sisters.
